How do I work with people as a trainer?

Most of the work we’ll do together is physical. But we’ll start with a conversation about what you want to accomplish, what your health and fitness challenges are, medical conditions or injuries that might affect the types of work we do together, and anything else that’s relevant to you and your goals.

We’ll take an in-depth assessment of how your body is functioning and I’ll create a holistic plan to help you reach your goals in a way that works for you — body, mind, and spirit. We want to be able to measure your progress so we’ll start with body composition measurements. We’ll also do functional movement screening exercises to identify asymmetries and movement patterns that are functional, and those that need work. These results provide valuable feedback throughout the training process to ensure we are meeting short and long-term movement objectives. We’ll identify how to train with purpose and precision in order to achieve your fitness, mobility or return from injury goals.

As much as I can, I try to mix things up to keep it interesting, try a variety of approaches, and use different muscles. At one session, we might focus on body movement, physical therapy, and boxing. The next one might be yoga, foam rolling, and a deep massage. As you make progress, your goals might change, so we’ll adjust your plan accordingly.

I see most of my clients at my home studio in South Minneapolis. It’s a bright, clean, tranquil space with all of the equipment we’ll need to work together. I also work with clients, especially those interested in boxing, at the world-famous Uppercut Gym in Northeast Minneapolis.

After our first month, ideally I like to see my clients once a week, however we can customize the frequency according to your goals and schedule. All sessions are one hour. Kickstarter Package

Kick your new fitness plan into gear. Schedule three personal training sessions your first month. We’ll start with a preliminary fitness audit and design an AF “Rx” movement plan outlining the steps to reach your fitness goals. Re-hab/pre-hab, strength and conditioning, diet and nutrition, concentrated mindfulness—your plan will be highly customized and include a homework guide to continue training on your own.

8-Session Package

Schedule eight personal training sessions over 3 months. Like the Kickstarter Package, we’ll start with a preliminary fitness audit and design an AF “Rx” movement plan outlining the steps to reach your fitness goals. Preparing for a competition or special event? We’ll make some longer-term goals and outline a quarterly plan to measure and assess progress.

Get the best pricing and solidify your commitment with the monthly auto-withdrawl membership. Schedule four personal training sessions per month. We’ll do a quarterly fitness audit and update your AF “Rx” movement plan as you reach and expand your fitness goals. We will measure and assess your progress and customize your training as we go.
